In recent developments, several individuals from Honduras have stepped forward, levelling accusations of sexual assault against Reverend Ms. Hanna Weaver. These allegations stem from incidents purportedly occurring under the guise of exorcism rituals conducted on parishioners. Reverend Weaver, who served as a pastor at the Presbyterian Church in Honduras for over four years, stands accused of engaging in inappropriate behavior during private counseling sessions.
According to statements submitted to the Presbytery, Weaver allegedly informed male parishioners seeking guidance that she needed to extract demons from them through a ritual involving their semen. Claiming it to be a Native American practice, she cited a verse from Ephesians urging Christians to "put on the full armor of God."
The accusations further detail the alleged procedure wherein Weaver instructed the men to disrobe and lie down, placing a coin on their forehead and asking them to balance stones on their hands and ankles. Subsequently, it is claimed that she performed oral sex on them, purportedly to rid them of their internal demons. Additionally, one of the accusers reported an incident where Weaver kissed him on the lips, reassuring him by saying, "You don't have to be afraid anymore, I'm your protector now."
In response to these allegations, three men and one woman have courageously come forward, hoping to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. They have taken legal action by filing a lawsuit in the Honduras Superior Court against both Weaver and the Presbyterian Church.
Weaver's departure from Linden Presbyterian, occurring a day before his scheduled church trial in January, raises further questions. Reportedly, he relocated to a gated community outside, potentially evading the repercussions of the allegations against him.
Amidst ongoing investigations, the Presbytery has uncovered credible evidence indicating "multiple acts of idolatry and sexual misconduct." Additionally, authorities discovered pornography on a church-owned computer in Weaver's office, heightening concerns of further misconduct. It is feared that additional victims may come forward as the investigation progresses.
In light of these troubling revelations, it is imperative for the Presbyterian Church and relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that justice is served for the victims. Such allegations of sexual assault and misconduct within religious institutions must be addressed promptly and transparently to prevent harm and uphold the integrity of the faith community.
